Recharge with gas recovery, leak detection with UV dye and a clean of the circuit. We do it in spring, when it's due, and check it with a thermometer at the vent.

What's included
- Recovery and weighing of the remaining gas: that tells us how much the circuit has lost.
- Vacuum to remove moisture, and an exact charge to the manufacturer's label.

- Vent outlet temperature measured before and after, noted on the invoice.
If it smells
The damp smell comes from mould on the evaporator. We treat it with disinfectant foam and change the cabin filter. Half an hour more, and the car smells like a car.

Questions we get asked
Why does it lose gas if there's no leak?
Every circuit loses a little a year through the seals. If it loses a lot quickly, there is a leak, and we find it.
Can I use the air-con in winter?
You should: it dehumidifies and keeps the compressor lubricated. Run it ten minutes a month.
