What we do, step by step

  • 1 · We talkWhat you notice, since when, how many screen hours, whether you drive at night. Five minutes that change the test.
  • 2 · We measureVisual acuity, autorefraction and subjective refraction in the phoropter, distance and near. We compare with your current glasses.
  • 3 · We look at eye healthEye pressure without the puff and a photo of the back of the eye with the retinal camera. If anything stands out, we refer you to an ophthalmologist with a report.
  • 4 · We explain itWhat has changed since the last prescription, what each number means and what your options are. No selling in the exam room.

How often

Every two years if all is well; every year from 45, or if you have diabetes, high myopia or a family history of glaucoma. If you notice sudden changes, flashes or a curtain over your vision, don't wait for the appointment: call.

Questions we get asked

Can I use the prescription at another optician or online?

Yes. It's yours and carries all the data, including pupillary distance. We'd rather you bought here, but we don't hide it.

Do I need to see an ophthalmologist too?

If we see something in the test (high pressure, retinal changes), we refer you with a report. Otherwise, the optometric check is enough.

Do you test for progressives?

Yes, and we also measure fitting height and working distance, which is what makes a progressive lens work.
